hi everyone
well, some of you may be pleased, delighted or even not at all surprised to learn that Dad, whislt in New Zealand, every now and then took off the "Dad" hat (the one that sees him do things like attack trees at random) and put on his "Grandad" one. this is a rather good thing indeed, for trees in particular.
i am led to believe, from an anonymous source (and on that note, thanks for the mail, Gillian) that there were one or two places in New Zealand that Grandad didn't quite fancy going to. to this end, he advised Katie and Daniel that it would be "better to wait for Grandma" to take them to those places. happily there were one or two things he did want to see and do, and one of them was the most excellent Build A Bear place!
it seems that Dad took Katie along on one of the days he was there when Katie's particularly busy social diary allowed for the two of them to spend a bit of time together! a very nice and splendid way to spend part of the day, if you ask me!
i am unaware of how aware you are, dear reader, of the Build A Bear concept. there's no real mystery to it and it pretty much does what it says on the box. children go along and build a teddy from scratch, selecting the design, filling, clothing and what have you. it is as excellent as it sounds!
i took James and his Mummy to a Build-a-Bear place herea little over 3 years ago for James to make a special Mother's Day gift. we had a wonderful time, as you can see from the pictures if you click that link back there. James was delighted to give Mummy 'Ducky' to love and look after; i suspect that Katie (rightly) is keeping the one she made for herself! nice one!
well, that looks like a splendid day out! pictures of Grandad with Daniel to follow soon, but you are warned that those shall feature less teddy bear action!
be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
