well, once you accept the fact that The Stone Roses actually did get back together, there really cannot be anything else they do which is considered as a surprise or unlikely. the news that they are playing two gigs prior to the Heaton Park, Manchester weekend must, however, come quite close to being a surprise!
everyone took it pretty much as a given that the "homecoming gigs" would be the first, and whatever happened next was a bit of a bonus. it seems the boys have had different ideas!
the official site, linked in the title, confirms that they are to play at the North Side Festival in Denmark.
this festival takes place in a place called Aarhus, and it goes on from June 15 to June 17.
on top of that, they are playing the Hultsfred Festival in Sweden.
The Hultsfred Festival is, as the name suggests, happening in Hultsfred, Sweden, and that one runs from June 14 to June 16.
the astute of you will have noticed, beyond the lovely pictures of both places i have put here, that the dates for those festivals overlap somewhat. this could be something of a problem for some fans who, rather understandably, wish to be at the first ever reunion gig. which one shall they be appearing at first?
best of luck to those who get tickets for either or both festivals, then! it is not going to come as a shock if they announce another gig or two before even these!
