for those of you looking at the title anticipating some wild Joycean rant from me, fear not or be disappointed. the artist of this title is, of course,
we have had a cold and wet weekend here in South Africa, but not a miserable one, thanks to the vision of Michele! with James having a sensational love of drawing and colouring in pictures, she figured he should take to painting with a similar passion. this was indeed true, and he has spent a good hour or so (probably more!) painting away!
even i pretended to know what i was doing with a brush and some paint :
it is, however, his mother who is the gifted artist, so for the most part, i am happy to say, he was sat painting with someone who knew what they were doing!
the five or so wonderfully crafted artistic statements which James made upon canvas (well, sketch book paper, but certainly canvas in the symbolic sense) are now proudly on display in our home. i would imagine that, through a combination of his new found affinity for artistry and the imminent cold winter weekends ahead, we shall get to see many more of his paintings in the near future!!
