it pains me to say this, and i really never thought that this day would dawn - i am rather looking forward to the next Jack Black film. yeah, i know, i cannot stand him, and i think only recently i posted another slamming of the guy!
Be Kind - Rewind has a very amusing sounding plot. in short, two dudes manage to blank all the films in their video store. yeah, i know some of you will have no idea what a "video tape" is, but anyway. instead of replenishing their stock, they instead set out with a video camera and just recreate the films themselves!
i have a vague recollection of a similar story in the "real world". maybe it was an urban legend or something, i know not - there's certainly no reference to it being based on or "inspired by" a real story.
in the trailer the impression is given that Jack Black has given up on just shouting a lot and looking like he feels sorry for himself, that annoying beaten puppy grimace was not visible once. nice one, i hope so, for when he has been watchable (and that has not been often), he has just, for want of a better term, 'acted' and not shouted a great deal. it also helps that the impressive Mos Def is in the film!
one word of warning though - avoid the trailer. if we assume that this is a standard 90 minute comedy, then the trailer gives away the whole plot, a couple of twists and a possible ending for it, all in the space of 3 minutes.
i believe this one gets released in January 2008 - going on what i have seen, it's certainly worth watching out for!!
