ok, here's an oddity.
mindful of the fact that Ian Brown, the Manic Street Preachers and the Happy Mondays have all released new stuff in 2007, i find myself considering that the best song of the year so far is the product of none of them. instead, i find myself highly enamoured and impressed with
1973 by James Blunt. i only listened to the song out of the somewhat obvious curiosity - it is named after the year i was born, after all. it appears to have little or no relevance to when you were born, but i was shocked and ashamed to discover that it is a fantastic tune.
strange that i cannot champion any song from my three favourites who have released something this year in the same way (although in fairness i have not had the chance to properly play Shaun & Bez's offering) - either they haven't released anything that outstanding, or i am just getting old and prefer a different kind of tune.
if for some reason you have not heard Mr Blunt's latest offering, i guess the advice is to then go and check it out!!
be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!
