the only living seagull in hartlepool

heya

it is, on reflect, quite likely that the one person out of the 20th century what made the biggest change to the psychology of the world was Walt Disney. no, i am not being silly, look you see. his imposing human traits on animals in his films - with particular emphasis on dancing, singing and upholding circa 50s USA morals - has led to a number of generations growing up believing that all animals do, in fact, have a human psyche and psychology all but identical to ours.

there are issues with this, to be sure, but on the whole it is perhaps best described as a positive change. we live in a time, after all, when animal rights, and the protection of their lives, is widespread and respected. a slight downside is that the Disnefication of animals has been such a success psychologically that revisionist history tries to make out we people have always had such heartfelt concerns for animals.

what i should confess at this stage is, mostly, and despite the above and the title, this post is in fact dominated by an incident with my beloved washing machine. but, hold on, i am sure a seagull will feature later on.

above, in the glory and greatness of Commodore 64 mode, is my washing machine. yes, we have seen it here before, frequently. but in this instance there is something different. i feel as though i insult you for pointing it out, for surely you can see it, but to confirm yes, that is one of my cigarette lighters floating around at the front. do you know, i was sure i had emptied my pockets out and double checked before setting off the machine, but apparently not. or not well enough.

for all you Commodore 64 mode enthusiasts - and surely this is the reason so many of you come back to this blog - hang in there, a very special treat in coming up. or, you know, just scroll down to the end if you simply cannot wait. in fairness the build up probably won't do it justice.

but for now, seagull(s) and Hartlepool. i had reason, although i am not prepared to discuss what that was, to be in the place once again. on this instance i was somewhat fortunate, as i did not pick up the mandatory parking fine it seems every car in Hartlepool must get. but i did get to meet a semi or quasi local.

yes, a seagull. it landed on my vehicle as i ate, and kind of did not shift. perhaps for some reason it thought i might share some of my dinner with it, but no i did not.

on the basis that i do not remember seeing any others, and allowing for the fact that i certainly did not bother to go and look for them, i am quite happy with the conclusion that this indeed presently the only living seagull in Hartlepool. the others, its brethren if you will, were no doubt detained on suspicion of being French, put on a somewhat free but at all times fabulous show trial and then hung for being French.

quite how this seagull had managed to evade such a fate is indeed a mystery. i am not clever enough to know how to escape the draconian laws of Hartlepool. but, it did. perhaps to the people, specifically the law enforcers, of Hartlepool, this seagull looks thoroughly English.

for some reason a couple of you think that non Commodore 64 modes are worthwhile. well, there you go, my lighter in the washing machine in that format. to me all this does is underline how excellent and splendid it all looks in Commodore 64 mode, but each to their now.

yes, avid readers of this blog. something similar to this did happen to me once before, a little north of 2 years ago. in the previous instance i discovered that certain Apple products are naturally waterproof. oddly, with a bit of drying out, the same is true here. this lighter is working, dear readers.

that special thing i promised? it turns out that my Commodore 64 mode camera thing makes something called a "GIF", which is like an animated picture, or if you like video. here you go.

i really hope that plays back in all its animated, moving glory for you on whatever device you happen to be having a look at this on.

yes, oh yes. now that i am aware of such magic, i shall indeed be looking to make more of these "GIF" things to add here. so long as they work ok.

anyway, that's that for this.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
