hey everyone
well, what does one write about with the first post of the year? how about something that i don't think i made too much of a reference to earlier; my most class Christmas present. it is a set containing all that you could ever possibly wish to know of one of the greatest films of all time, Blade Runner :
as you can see, at five discs and a stack of extra bits, it is going to be some work to get through! thus far i have only really looked at the deleted / alternate scenes, but i did watch the celebrated, rare workprint rough cut of the film as soon as i got it.
whilst it was ace to see the rough and ready version of the film in this workprint form, i think Ridley Scott missed the point somewhat - they have gone and "cleaned up" the rough workprint, doing this whole "digital restoration" business. that kind of defeats the issue, as the reason many (like me) wanted to see it was its rough, unpolished nature. ho hum, at least there is a decent copy of it out there now - the bootlegs doing the rounds appear to have been done via a camcorder in the back of a cinema!
i could go on for many, many pages about the wonders of Blade Runner, but i dare say the interwebnet thingie already has many fine sites of praise about it. if for some reason you have not seen it, well, off you go then, find a copy and watch it!
be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!
