Sequel To Sequels - Some Requests!

hey everyone

many thanks for the great feedback and responses to my 15 film sequel wishes. there are some splendid comments there!

my good friend Spiros mentioned two films that he feels that should be on the list. he is right, but it is with good reason that they were excluded. here they are, both for Spiros and for anyone else that feels they should have been included!

THE BIG LEBOWSKI
a genuine masterpiece of cinema, this one. the adventures of The Dude and his merry band of bowlers struck a real chord in those of us who love off the beaten track humour and story telling.
as class as it would be to see another set of exploits of the gang (or at least which ones are still around to be in it), i left this one out as it is general knowledge that a "sequel" of sorts is being planned - the magnificent Cohen brothers have spoken about a sort of spin-off film featuring ace bowler Jesus. this story has been doing the rounds for a while now, so it could either be on hold or simply forgotten about.

chances of a sequel : increasingly unlikely, sadly. all the reports suggest that the Cohen brothers could be getting some high profile reward and recognition for their film No Country For Old Men. much like Peter Jackson has "forgotten" his promise to go and do Bad Taste 2 after the Oscar glories of the Lord of the Rings films, i fear that Jesus, Donnie, Walter and The Dude will be limited to a mere one film.

THE BOONDOCK SAINTS
a curious film, this. by all accounts a qualified disaster on being released at the cinema, it appears to have a huge cult following thanks to videotape, dvd and tv broadcasts. and rightly so, as it is great fun.
the star of the piece was Willem Dafoe's bizarre, ambiguous detective type character. it is not everyone, after all, who announces that they are "so happy that they could riverdance" and then promptly does it.
my feeling on this one would be that all there is to tell of the brothers at the centre of the film has been told; that is there is no really interesting or probable storyline for them except for another 90 minutes of shooting people that they believe deserve to be shot. that said, a sequel has in fact been planned and written up by all accounts, but there's sight nor sound of it ever being made.
as the "leaked" plans for the sequel suggest that Willem Dafoe would not return, i can't say that i would be all that excited about them making it anyway.

chances of a sequel : slim to none, it seems. apparently there are a whole stack of "legal issues" around the rights to it - i guess that there are many stakeholders with shares from the original. as much of a success as The Boondock Saints might be in respect of home entertainment, it is apparently not successful enough to say that the money to be made is worth resolving the legal arguments. and, as i said, with no Willem returning in the planned sequel, chances of it being interesting are limited.

well, if there are any more suggestions or ideas, please forward on the names and i will see what i can do about including them here!!!!

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!
