perhaps we all deserve to die of plague

hello there

it would be fair, honest and (indeed) accurate, look you see, for any that know me, or have taken the time to read what i have written, to suggest that i have some nerve (cheek, even) to be critical of the words of others. but, then again, i am but a simple person what does all this for fun, or as a hobby, and not someone paid to write. least of all by an organisation, or institution, which once held the highest of standards and claimed to be the bastion of using language all proper, like.

one of the most perverse crimes of language which prevails in this world emerged yet again, then. quite recently, as it happens, and in relation to those two towers of English culture - football and supermarkets. no less than the bbc (the British Broadcasting Corporation and not that initialisation of bbc) gone done something quite wrong.

perhaps they have edited it since, but for those keen to try and spot their sin before i draw attention to it, here you go, here is the link to it. certainly i would hope they have fixed it by now, but it is not like an editor reviewed it before publishing. or, for that matter, that they have gone back and amended their praise of some people, with particular emphasis on Sir Jimmy.

that there above is more or less a screenshot of the article what i saw, as i saw it. only the slightest edit has been made, to remove the image of some manager or another what was all "copyright" and that of some photo firm. unsure if it was a football club manager or supermarket manager, but would take a guess at the latter.

anyway, did you (although it seems somewhat blurry) spot the clanger, the mistake or the error? indeed, it is the appearance of the quite nonsensical phrase "reverting back" which has so upset me. me and many others, i would trust, even if they view my own writing with disdain.

since revert (or reverting) basically means "to put back" or restore, saying "rever(ing) back" is just nonsensical. everything about anyone who uses the word so suggests (well mostly that they want a punch in the face but also) that they are simply doing so to sound "big" or "clever" without understanding exactly what word they wield. it's like them tw@ts what use variations of unique. you know, saying something is "quite" or "very" unique. ahem, it is unique, or it is not. yes, that black and white.

no doubt, probably, it is so that i have complained about this before (and shall once again, given time enough to do so). but now, well, we are in the world of natural selection, what with this plague and all. it may seem harsh, but perhaps we should not rush to shelter so. if anyone what thinks it is all well and good to use the word "back" directly after any variation of "revert", perhaps they should be directed towards their nearest supermarket, then, and see how the plague judges their lexicon use.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
