joe cole derby league 2023-2024

hello there

on a superficial level, or at face value, far too many would be prepared to write off (or dismiss) Joe Cole as a (relatively) simple f***wit. this is not at all fair, look you see. he's just a lad who loves his football, which must be why everyone in broadcasting goes out of their way to try and secure his services for commentary and observations on matches.

with this in mind, one of the "big" things every English Premier League (EPL) season is the outcome or if you like results of games deemed to be "Joe Cole Derby" matches. these are, as you might have worked out, matches in which both teams involved had the privilege to have fielded Joe Cole. as ever i have compiled the results and, for those interested, present them to you here, as well as the final league table for the Joe Cole Derby League

the prestigious nature of this league, or cup, is that it is only possible for four (4) teams to win it. of the clubs in the Premier League, only Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool and Aston Villa had the vision to sign him to play for them. many other so-called "big clubs", be they Manchester or London based, cannot ever claim to have "won" the Joe Cole Derby League.

no, i really don't have a horse in this race. to be honest i am not at all bothered about Joe Cole, but on those rare instances i watch a match i for some reason end up seeing him. back in the 80s or 90s he probably would have sought a lucrative career (post-football) advertising breakfast cereals or similar, but instead he is in this brave century i do not understand where footballers are sought out for their stimulating, insightful and intelligent thoughts on the game. that or they work cheap, and please note i didn't specifically single out Chris Sutton here.

anyway, on to the results. yes, league table too.

yes, i did knock the above up on Excel (or whatever it is called), the 2007 edition. no, i could not be bothered to fancy up the look of it. quite, as you can see, the goal fest in the Joe Cole Derby matches this last season, with just the one game featuring a single goal.

best match of the Joe Cole season? probably the Aston Villa 4 West Ham 1 game. for no reason other than it features teams which play in relatively similar colour and design kits, which is very likely an aspect that Joe Cole noticed (eventually) and commented on.

do a drum roll if you like, for here is the final league standings. it may or may not be of interest to see it shows triumph and tragedy for two departing managers.........also i have the F & A wrong somehow, but no i am not going back and editing it, whatever.

congratulations, then, to Liverpool for winning the Joe Cole Derby League this season (23-24). all the more impressive as they were undefeated, or if you like invincible. this is a fitting farewell for their departing manager, Jurgen Klopp. i have every confidence that, in the future rather than the past, when he speaks of his time at the club this achievement shall dominate his words. not so much for the other departing manager, David Moyes, as his West Ham team really, really let themselves down here.

perhaps the surprise package here was Chelsea getting three quasi creditable results. many have noted they have had something of a poor season, but it would seem they raised their game when the honour and prestige of Joe Cole was on the table. or pitch. with a view to the future, though, i fully expect to see Aston Villa likely win the Joe Cole Derby League next season. it is possible they might get distracted from this by lesser honours such as the Champions League, but i think they will strengthen their squad to compete for the Joe Cole title during the summer.

if for some reason you are interested then you can click here and get the details of the last Joe Cole Derby League. oddly it's vaguely interesting to see how far "fewer" goals were scored in the previous season. will i be doing this for next season? maybe.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
