well, here we go again. it is being reported that The Stone Roses are about to reform and do a tour. apparently, there will be a press conference on Tuesday 18 October 2011 by the four to give the full details.
we have heard this all before, of course, but there has never been a definitive date given for it to be confirmed or denied.
i suspect, looking at the wording, that this is a non-story, twisted from the reports earlier in the year of Ian, John and Mani meeting in the most tragic of circumstances. the numerous reports published today do little but rehash comments made throughout this year and last; the only real "new" part being a press conference being planned.
it is interesting to see that this press conference is scheduled to take place in London, is it not? odd, for if it is true, then surely Manchester would be the place they would wish to hold it? also, Bobby Gillespie has recently said that Primal Scream are recording and touring in early 2012, which kind of raises a question mark about Mani being involved.
on Tuesday, then, we shall learn if this is true or not. in the mean time, please feel free to check out the details of John Squire's 2009 denial and indeed John Squire's 2010 denial.
if this turns out to be true, great and good luck to them. but i am not expecting, at this stage, to be commenting on anything about The Stone Roses next week.
