resolution achieved

greetings

blimey, another year then. in general, look you see, and of course of me doing this. no, i had no idea that i'd be writing this after all these years, and equally no clue for how long it shall go on. ultimately no one has said "make it stop" yet, i suppose.

a custom, or tradition (if you will) for the commencement of any new year is to make some form of pledge or undertaking. resolutions, they are usually called, as in something that one shall do (or cease doing) with resolve during the course of the year. many will have made such for this year (2022), and may even have failed them already. or, to be positive. achieve them.

leaving aside any, or all, sense of modesty, i am delighted to say that i have reached the latter there. no, not that. true, yes, many would quite like me to resolve to quit or cut down considerably on all that smoking business (sorry), but such a trivial matter was far from my thinking for the year ahead.

indeed that is, presented in the greater good and glory of Commodore 64 mode, my most smart handheld (for how else would one hold something) Atari device. more details, for those interested, can be found by clicking here. with somewhere north of five hundred (500) people reading it, i am delighted that it's a popular thing what i threw some internet space on.

considerably north of two (2) years later on from being gifted this by my boys (thanks again) and yes, i do tinker or fiddle with it from time to time. not all that often, but considering the relatively low cost of what's essentially a nostalgia gift, more frequently than one may think. well, why not. the games on it are simple, basic, easy to pick up on and immensely enjoyable.

many games on the Atari can put forward an argument, or claim, that it is the best, greatest and most important game either on the Atari, or of all time. rather than waste time listing possible contenders, let me rather move on to at least one of them. which would be River Raid. i dare to suggest my brother would agree with me on this. probably more so, as he was a champion at it.

for my sort of quasi new year resolution (2022) thing, then, i set myself the target of becoming the greatest ever player of River Raid. and, what do you know, by early morning on the first day of this particular year, i gone done achieved it. no formal record seems to exists as to who is the bestest of all time, but i cannot recall ever getting a score as high as this one, 26420, before. so, in the absence of any challenge or disagreement, i hereby declare myself emperor king of River Raid top score. previously i think my bestest ever was just north of 18000.

what do i feel about achieving my resolution for the new year already? relief. it means that any and all pressure for the year ahead is right off of me, doesn't it. anything, or whatever, i do for the rest of the year, well that's the proverbial icing on the cake. i set a goal, i achieved it.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
