trying to be a bit fair with this post, look you see. and giving an update for all of them or those of you out reading this who quite like the cricket. also, family and friends and so forth who are ever keen for updates on how we are plodding along.
whereas recently i did an extensive post of William and his adventures with fish, here we are with an update on James and his cricket career. yes, video enthusiasts, there are some videos. four, i think, i have to download for this one.
yes, in videos and pictures to follow on from this one - actually more videos than pictures - James is somewhat clearer in view. but this one is also nice.
for a number of reasons we have not had as many games of cricket as we'd have like as such as yet this season. my, what a convoluted sentence. anyway, few if any of these reasons pertain to the silly comments off of the supposed head of the ECB about how "children are not attracted to cricket".
rather, then, the fine traditions of English summer weather has come to be. on non-match days we appear to get lovely sunny days. when it is time for cricket, however, grey and wet. conclusive proof, i think you will find, that after all God is not a Yorkshireman. if he, or He, were, then the world would be as beautiful as Yorkshire (some of it is but not all), and weather would always be perfect for cricket.

James' grandad, or if you like my Dad, comments that James has "a lovely bowling action" and it is a pleasure to watch. but of course he has some bias. or maybe not in this instance, i leave it to you to decide, should your device allow for video to be played ok.
what's that, you want a batting video, right now? ok, then, sure, why not..
does James fancy himself more of a batsman or more the bowler? i am pretty sure that i have posed this question here before. now, like then, if there was a then, there seems not to be an answer. perhaps that is the answer, then, and it is an all-rounder that he seeks to flourish.
but also, i suspect, he'd like to be the best at bowling of the two.
another factor limiting the cricket so far this season has been a mysterious spate of illnesses and injuries stopping not so much the kids who play but the parents of the kids who play. strangely, and i am certain this is pure coincidence, such afflictions appear to happen as and when, more or less exactly, there is a tasty World Cup game on, in particular them ones what feature England.
but, as and when games have gone ahead, they have. and all have been splendid, with at least two of them ending with final over deciders. whilst i stress that the most important thing in any game of cricket is that the real winner at the end is the spirit of the game being upheld, James and his team have indeed won most, if not all, of the matches they have played. and of course we take pride in that.

no, in answer to your question, no. despite them having a legendary status in the game, the brave new approach of the Australians of introducing sandpaper to cricket has not quite caught on here. for not so much the most part as the entire part, our team - as is true of all English sports except {unsubstantiated rumours removed on legal advice] - believe it is better to lose fair and square than it is to even contemplating cheating to win. bravo.

right, well, there you go! as and when the weather, and certain other (lesser) sporting events allow and we get some cricket on the go, i shall indeed do some more updates!
