what the hell is this?

hi there

we had a most peculiar visitor this evening. it was a rather long, weird looking sort of bug, the kind of which i think i have chased out of the house once before, only this time i managed to get a picture or two of it. well, that would be because my (considerably) better half has a rather more humane approach to ridding our home of insects.

as it was covered by one of them plastic tub things the pictures, despite the much better camera on my new blueberry thing, are not all that great. here, see if you can work out what it is.

with a fleeting glimpse we thought it might be a grasshopper, but it's kind of the wrong colour and has rather better flying capabilities. my next best guess would be that it was a locust, but i am unfamiliar with them going about on solo missions.

perhaps it's some sort of hybrid thing or other, i've got no clue. if it helps at all, the smaller bit at the end of it where it thins out to two sort of straight antennae thingies, move a good deal, opening and closing like a mouth.

if you think you may have some sort of idea of what it is, please leave a message giving us a clue! as i said, so far as i know there is only one of them around our house at the moment (well in the garden at least), it would be interesting to know just what it is!

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
