regular readers with a more traditional idea of memory will no doubt recall that about a week ago i wrote of two "spin off" series sort of based on one of the greatest films of all time, the silence of the lambs. there's a little bit of an interesting update in that regard, and a somewhat cheeky move too.
whereas at the moment the Starling series seems to be in the 'theoretical' stage, Hannibal is full steam ahead, apparently. having already cast Hugh Dancy in the role of FBI Agent Will Graham, the big question was who would be cast in the role of Hannibal. it seems a decision has been made in that respect!
ladies and gentlemen, the new Hannibal Lecter!
well, i think he is. reports across the internet all seem to state that Mads Mikkelsen has got the role. appearance wise, and European twang wise, i say oh yes, they have got the right man for the job.
i sort of half recall him being in that class King Arthur film with Clive Owen, but at this stage in his life he is of course best known for being "Mr Testicle Tickles" in Casino Royale. should this series go as well as it can go, one thinks that he will be remembered more for this role in the years to come!
as for the rather more cheeky update, well, it seems that they were very keen to get the advertising going for this series before the above casting decision, looking at the below!
i am sure "who played the legs and lower torso of Hannibal Lecter in the adverts" will be a popular trivia matter in years to come!
