Station To Station

hey everyone

well, so much for my worries about there being not too many discs released to buy in the future!

hot on the heels of the release of the 2 CD deluxe edition of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Welcome To The Pleasuredome, David Bowie goes and announces the release of a 4 (FOUR!!) disc version of his arguable masterpiece, Station To Station!!

no newly surfaced or unreleased tracks are on it (the only off-cut from the sessions appears to be the Springsteen cover It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City, found on the splendid Sound+Vision box set), but you do get the album as-is, a 5.1 DVD audio version (whatever the hell that is, perhaps it plays with nice pictures on the go?) and then two discs filled with the legendary Nassau Coliseum gig from March 1976.

two tracks from that gig, Stay and Word On A Wing, featured on the first CD issue of Station To Station as bonus tracks and were of pleasantly excellent quality. every bootleg i have ever found of the whole gig has sounded like it was recorded on an old reel-to-reel tape deck off an MW radio signal, so fingers crossed it's all been made nice and neat for an official release. Santa Monica 72 certainly had a great clean up for when it went all legit!

erm, not quite sure how i am going to afford this and the Frankie re-issues, i am sure i can sell some sort of body organ somewhere!!!

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
