"Elvis is no animated fish"

hey everyone

well, it is with some sadness that i write of an incident over the weekend that did not go as well as i had hoped.

i have "obtained" some classic footage of Elvis in action, predominantly of his Las Vegas, class jumpsuit era. considering the love James has of singing and dancing, i thought that i would invite James in to my study to see some Elvis.

James was very excited about this, and came running in from playing with his cars saying "watch Elvis with Dada, watch Elvis with Dada". he then came in to sit down with Dada to watch The King, as pictured above.

alas, as the picture above and below illustrate, he was not at all enamoured with the magic of The King, and after a mere few seconds was screaming "no, no Elvis, Elvis off".

this is a great shame, as i was showing him some of the finest moments from the Vegas era, in particular Suspicious Minds, C C Rider and the great performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water. he was having none of any of them, and was soon demanding "Shark Tale on", that being one of his favourite tunes used in that film, Supar Pie Honey Bunch.

Michele found this all to be wonderfully amusing, and just said "let's face it, Elvis is no animated fish.". i would be inclined to disagree in the strongest possible terms with this comment, but apparently in the world of James this sentiment resonates with truth.

Michele also pointed out that it is not like i embrace all the music of my father, with particular emphasis on the fact that i have not inhereted a love of John Prine as of yet - sorry, Dad!

oh well, as the years pass, perhaps James will come to embrace and love the magic of Elvis. i hope that it is with pride that he learns of my investigations into the possibility of Elvis being in hiding in China.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!
